In this talk, Professor Kaul will focus on the intersection of misogyny with political legitimacy and point to the strategic uses of misogyny for the purposes of democratic erosion by ELMA (Electorally Legitimated Misogynist Authoritarian) leaders of right-wing political projects in multiple contemporary democracies. She will also highlight recent empirical findings on the attitudes of Trump supporters towards gender, authoritarianism, and climate change in the United States.
