As the Holocaust has become an unfortunate memory, more and more students have begun to question its legitimacy. While most of the world is lucky to not have been impacted by the Holocaust, the subsequent trials and legislations have impacted the way the world responds to war time events. For these reasons, in honor of Yom HaShoah (the Hebrew date of Holocaust memorial) JLSA is holding a panel that will allow students to explore the impacts of the Holocaust through international legality. The panel will be comprised of: Judge Sfekas, a retired judge who will be focusing on the impact of the Nuremberg trials on judicial ethics; Professor Grossman, who will be discussing how the Nuremberg Trials have affected international criminal law and war crimes; and, Professor Carstens, who will be discussing the Holocaust’s impact on cultural heritage law. Lunch will be served.
